The gigantic demon claimed to be the son of Lord Shiva and obtained permission from him to consume the universe, known as ‘Trilok,’ due to his insatiable hunger. As soon as the demon began devouring Trilok, the gods became fearful and sought refuge in Lord Brahma to save the world.
Therefore, to rescue Trilok, Lord Brahma instructed other gods and demons to push him down onto the earth, with his head facing northeast and his feet pointing southwest. Brahma seized control of the middle part of Vastu Purusha’s body, while the other 44 gods (representing 45 energy fields) seized control of his body, symbolizing different facets of our lives.
